Back To Work
Learning Network Queensland’s (LNQ), Back to Work (BTW) program is an employment
training program that aims to assist mature aged men and women seeking to enter
or re-enter the workforce. The program seeks to support persons aged 40 years or
over who are currently unemployed and looking for work and have been for a period
of three months or more.
The BTW program is delivered across rural, regional and remote Queensland only,
and is not available for the southeast corner. BTW is fully funded under the Department
of Employment and Industrial Relations’ Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative
and is delivered by LNQ through its Learning Centres located
across Queensland
The program consists of face to face training in job seeking skills and accredited
computing skills. The units include:
- Workplace Communication
- Job Seeking Skills
- Internet and email
- Word processing
- Basic computing
The computer skills include the first three units of the
Certificate I in IT
and successful completion leads to a Statement of Attainment. The units are:
- ICAU1129A Operate a word processing application
- ICAU1128A Operate a personal computer
- ICAU1133A Send and retrieve information over the Internet using browsers and email.
Course participants must be:
- 40 years or older
- Unemployed for a minimum of 3 months or more; and seeking work
- Not eligible for training credits with a Job Network Provider.
