Meeting Your Needs

Learning Network Queensland was established in 1989 and transitioned from Central Queensland University to Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) in 2007 and is an established business unit of Brisbane North Institute of TAFE Open Learning Services Directorate delivering Vocational Education programs to various cohorts of students including Indigenous in rural and remote locations in Queensland.

LNQ has adopted a mobile operating model which has e-classrooms (laptop classrooms and teacher kits) along with hospitality, community services and tourism mobile delivery units. This mobile model has proved very successful, primarily because of the ability to relocate to meet training demands. The mobile operating model has been eagerly embraced by Indigenous communities as it has reduced the need to travel to town or city locations which economically and socially has previously been an inhibit able factor in training enrolments and completions.

LNQ incorporating the Indigenous Team focuses on building Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander capacity in communities by offering accredited and non-accredited training throughout rural and remote Queensland. The Indigenous Team provide advice and support to delivery teams, promoting a holistic and a flexible training and has established partnerships and representation of advisory boards.
