Microsoft Windows XP—an introduction
This course is about using a computer running Microsoft Windows XP operating systems. It provides training in the most commonly used features of Windows XP, and directs you to other sources of information such as user manuals and on-line help.
This will help you solve any problems you have with the operating system.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
- interpret the terminology, at an introductory or basic level, for using a computer
- use the Windows XP Graphical User Interface (GUI) facilities and accessories to manage files, directories and applications on a stand-alone computer
- define and explain hardware & software, RAM, floppy disks, removable storage, hard disks and monitor
- use the Windows XP interface to open and close applications, have several applications open together and switch between currently open applications
- perform file management activities using Windows XP Explorer
- use Windows XP Print Manager to manage printer set-up and the print queue
- Create, save and print files in Windows XP applications such as WordPad and Paint.
