Basic Gardening Techniques—Lawns and Flowers
The best way to learn about plants and lawns is to grow them first hand. This practical course shows the novice, and the more experienced gardener how to establish a garden. It also allows the student to understand how plants work. This course covers all aspects necessary for the development of a successful garden.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
- basic botanical principles
- soil composition
- plant biology and nutrition care and maintenance of tools soils
- diseases and pests
- the growing of lawns
- annuals
- perennials and bulbs
- general garden practices including: watering, mulching, composting, spraying and dusting; weeding, raising seedlings and transplanting.
