The enthusiastic gardener will be introduced to the essential practices needed for successful growing of vegetables and fruits. The learning materials cover all aspects enabling the student to develop a productive fruit and vegetable garden.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
- basic botanical principles
- climatic considerations
- soil preparation
- crop rotation
- vegetable planting tables
- detailing growing requirements
- growing vegetables and fruits in containers
- pests and diseases
- organic gardening
- espalier and pruning fruit trees.
