Establish Personal Work Goals
This module is designed to assist you to explore your ability to manage yourself, set and meet work priorities, and develop and maintain your work performance.
To be an effective manager, you need to understand your own knowledge, skills and motivators so that you can establish goals and roles that maximise your individual strengths. In your endeavours to understand yourself better, you will develop a deeper understanding of those you work with and manage. You can identify opportunities for personal improvement and growth, as well as opportunities for your staff's development.
At the completion of this course, you should be able to:
- understand that the ability to manage yourself is an essential prerequisite to managing others
- improve self-awareness using techniques to identify how you deal with others and information
- better understand people's reactions, drivers and values
- behave assertively as a manager to gain a win-win outcome
- use tools to understand how the different personality types operate
- understand how needs and wants determine motivation.
